Information about Can Picafort in Mallorca

The former fishing village Can Picafort in the north of Majorca lies right in the heart of the bay of Alcudia. Can Picafort is one of the oldest tourist centers on the island and this is also reflected in its urbanization: along the promenade and really close to the beach, there are many small hotels whereas the larger hotel complexes are further away. The original construction style simple houses with large terraces still remained around the marina, in the oldest part of the town, until today. Unlike other tourist destinations, the rural characteristics of the original Can Picafort and the everyday life of the small harbor town have been preserved. Although it is not obvious, fishing still plays an important role here. Muro is located between Sa Pobla and Santa Margalida. This contributes to the dreamy charm of the little town, which reflects the original and picturesque Majorca. Besides peace and seclusion, there are a number of sightseeing opportunities such as the church of Sant Joan from the 16th century or the Ethnology Museum in Muro, whose buildings are still from the 17th century.
