The casita (small house) is part of a larger manor house/country house (Can Magdale) in the listed village of Marraxinet, about 30 km north-east of Palma. Marraxtinet is a small and quiet village with about 20 houses, nestled on a ridge with views of the bay of Palma shimmering blue in the distance, the wide plain between Portol and Santa Maria del Cami and to the west the whole of the central Tramuntana up to the highest mountain in Mallorca, the Puig Mayor. The transport connections from Marraxtinet are excellent. The Palma / Alcudia motorway is just a few minutes away. It takes around 30 minutes to get to the centre of Palma and 35-40 minutes to Alcudia and Pollenca with its beautiful beaches. The World Heritage Site of the Tramuntana Mountains (Soller, Deia Valdemossa) is also only 30-40 minutes away by car. A public train station (Inca - Palma) is about 3000 metres away. Shops and supermarkets are also about 3-4000 m or 5-10 minutes by car. In Santa Maria del Cami (5 minutes away by car) there are some nice interior design and antique shops, two excellent bike shops for the cycling enthusiasts and a good selection of cafés and restaurants. The Sunday farmers' and food market in Santa Maria is legendary. A little further north is Alaro (15 minutes away by car), which is just as charming with its lively market square and many bars. The casita has 3 bedrooms with a maximum of 6 people staying. The third bedroom is connected via the second bedroom (both on the first floor). All rooms have modern double beds in king size, windows for natural light with persiannas to darken the rooms from light or heat. There is a semi-open plan kitchen with all amenities for fine dining and a living room with TV and a fireplace on the ground floor. There is also a bedroom and a bathroom with shower, WC, bidet etc. on the ground floor. A double door leads from the large living room into the romantic courtyard in front of the house. Facilities include a gas barbecue (outside) and 2 mountain bikes
The courtyard is nicely shaded by pink-coloured climbing plants. In the courtyard there is a stone table with benches for sitting and eating outside and a shelter with a historic oven. The courtyard is lush with greenery. The exit to the small village street is also through the courtyard. On the other side of the courtyard you can go up three steps to a terrace that opens onto the main house. There is plenty of space for sunbathing and a small adjoining terrace under some citrus trees where you can enjoy a drink in the evening light, with views across the wide plain to the twinkling lights of Palma in the distance. Two more steps lead to the swimming pool with seating and space to relax - protected by the outer wall of the large country house.
Marraxtinet is a small, typical Mallorcan village completely surrounded by olive and almond tree fields. There are hardly any tourists and only one small hotel with 10 rooms. The villagers are very friendly.
From Marraxtinet you can reach vibrant Palma, the breathtaking Tramuntana and the beautiful beaches of the extensive bays of Pollenca and Alcudia in less than 60 minutes. The charming market towns of Santa Maria del Cami and Alaró have everything you need in terms of supermarkets, fresh food on market days, nice restaurants and small bars for a lazy afternoon coffee. With its beautiful pool overlooking the whole village and surrounding area and its secluded and cosy courtyard for breakfast or a candlelit dinner, Casita is the perfect holiday retreat for families and friends of up to 6 people who enjoy a mix of relaxing days at home and by the pool combined with a variety of excursions and activities around Mallorca for which the island is so popular. Casita Can Magdale is also perfect for cycling in spring and autumn, as it is ideally located in a network of numerous small country and secondary roads.
