Es Trenc
A paradise of water and sand
Can Riera is located just 3 km from Es Trenc, one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca for its dazzling stretches of sand and crystal-clear waters. Just under 4 km long, this beach in the municipality of Campos is catalogued as a protected natural area, so its unspoilt coastline only has a few beach services and, curiously enough, several post-war bunkers. The beach also has a nudist area. Further inland, there is an expanse of low forest and scrubland, which soon leads to extensive pine groves.
The name Trenc comes from trencar or to break, and apparently refers to the channel that breaks the coastline, draining the flow of water from the inland lagoons. The quality of its waters, the tranquillity and the extension of the sandy area make Es Trenc one of the best options for bathing in Mallorca.
Surroundings
A space in harmony with nature
The surroundings of the house have landscapes and urban centres in which to enjoy nature, beaches and leisure activities.
Es Salobrar de Campos
Es Salobrar de Campos, 130 hectares of seawater ponds that extend like a fascinating game of mirrors. There is evidence that the Carthaginians and Romans were already involved in salt production in the area. And today, the so-called 'white gold' is still extracted using traditional methods.
Because of its unquestionable ecological value, the salt marsh is listed as a protected natural area. It is home to a proliferation of flora and fauna adapted to the salt-rich soils. But above all, it stands out for the abundance of birds - of which up to 1,700 species have been catalogued - making it a highly appreciated ecosystem for ornithology lovers. For this reason, the Salobral is also recognised as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA).
The beaches
The southern coast of Mallorca is dotted with beaches of fine sand and turquoise sea. The house is located very close to Es Trenc, flanked by the beaches of Ses Covetes and the sandy area of Sa Ràpita, which allows for long walks along the shores of a sea that is always calm.
But there are many other options: in the nearby Colònia de Sant Jordi there are beaches such as Es Carbó or Es Dols, which offer a panoramic view of the Cabrera archipelago.
The Colònia de Sant Jordi
The Colònia de Sant Jordi, in the nearby municipality of Ses Salines, is one of the classic summer resorts for Mallorcan families. Years ago this town was a small fishing village, and today it is home to a wide range of options for enjoying gastronomy and leisure activities without fuss. Boats leave from here for Cabrera, and there is also an Interpretation Centre that explains the ecological value of this National Park.
Cabrera Maritime-Terrestrial National Park
The Cabrera archipelago is a tiny paradise that was declared a National Park in 1991. It is made up of 18 islands and islets, although only Cabrera, the largest of the islands, can be visited. Its relief is mountainous and austere, and the coastline is dominated by cliffs that are sometimes over 100 metres high, softened by coves with turquoise waters. Unique species of seabirds and lizards live here, but the most surprising fauna and flora are submerged: the Posidonia meadows almost touch the shore, and an infinite number of fish can be seen with the naked eye. A paradise for diving enthusiasts. The island also has a castle dating from the late 14th century.
Mondragó Natural Park
Mondragó is less than 20 km from the house, an exceptional group of unspoilt coves recognised as a Natural Park. Among them is the cove of Sa Barca Trencada, close to Portopetro, and further south is the Caló des Borgit.
A small path leads to the cove of Ses Fonts de n'Alís, a spectacular sandy area behind which is a torrent that forms a wetland of great ecological interest. In the idyllic Mondragó Natural Park, S'Amador also stands out, a virgin cove of transparent waters with a backdrop of pines and wild olive trees.
Activities
Nautical
The beaches and coves that follow one after another along the southern coast of Mallorca make the area an exceptional place for sailing. In the docks of Colònia de Sant Jordi and in the marina of Sa Ràpita you will find all the nautical services you need, as well as numerous options for boat hire.
Scuba diving
The crystal clear waters of the beaches in the area invite you to dive to contemplate the beauty of the seabed. However, one of the favourite spots for scuba divers is the nearby island of Cabrera, where you can enjoy the exceptional flora and fauna.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing and sailing water sports lovers will find in this area many places to practice these sports, with the attraction of enjoying some of the most unique beaches in Mallorca.
Bird watching
The nearby Campos salt marsh is an area highly appreciated by ornithologists, where more than 1,700 birds have been catalogued. Many are migratory species, which find nutrients in these waters to recover from their long journeys.
Cycling
The southern area of Mallorca is eminently flat, which allows for undemanding cycling routes with the added attraction of riding along the coast. A very popular route for groups of professional and amateur cyclists is the one that links Ses Salines with Cap Blanc, where you will discover a spectacular coastline.
Golf
Near the hotel you will find some of the best options for playing golf on the island. This is the case of Golf Maioris, Golf Son Antem East and Golf Son Antem West, located in the municipality of Llucmajor, some 15 kilometres away from Font Santa d'Es Trenc Hotel.
Paddle
In Colònia de Sant Jordi you will find a paddle club with all the infrastructure and services for the practice of this sport.
Hiking
Enjoy long walks along the coast, such as an excursion to the lighthouse of Cap de Ses Salines. It is a 12-kilometre route along which you will discover incomparable beaches - such as Es Caragol, Es Carbó and Es Dols - culminating at this lighthouse, which currently houses a coastal research station. There is also the option of reaching the lighthouse by car, and making the journey on foot to Colònia de Sant Jordi.
Equitation and polo
In the area around the house you will find the Sant Jordi Riding Club and several equestrian centres that offer horse riding in the area. Also very close to the hotel is the Sa Barreleta Polo Club
Shopping
On Thursdays and Saturdays, Campos holds a popular market, where you can also stroll among stalls selling handicrafts, handmade clothes, etc. Sa Ràpita, meanwhile, hosts a summer market in July and August. It is a good time to admire and enjoy the excellent products of the Mallorcan countryside.
Excursions to Cabrera
In the summer months, boats leave daily from Colònia de Sant Jordi for Cabrera, a National Park with amazing sea beds, such as those of the famous Cova Blava. And to complete your visit, you can visit the Cabrera Interpretation Centre in Colònia de Sant Jordi, a space where you can learn more about the ecological treasures of this natural area.

The house is beautiful and pleasant.
We had a few problems with the two bedrooms at the bottom of the stairs.
The air conditioning didn't work and they often didn't have hot water, whereas the upstairs rooms did.
The bedroom with the bathroom overlooking the corridor had a few problems with dam...
